Benton County profile

Year HHI started:

Began in 1997 as part of the Community Inaugurated Service Grant with the St. Mary's Hospital.   Later, developed into Transitional Employment Assistance Coalition (TEA).   Voted this year to rename group to Benton County Community Coalition.

How HHI started:

Identified community health needs such as adequate prenatal health care that neither public nor private sector could appropriately address alone.

How HHI is organized:

Structure carried over from the former Transitional Employment Assistance Coalition.   Have Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Board of Directors.   Currently working to provide committees felt appropriate/needed by membership.

Past projects:

Forum for elected officials; agency fair; assisted in administration of 4 county community health needs assessment survey.

Current/Future projects:

Working with other interested community partners in application for a community health center (CHC); continuing elected officials forums; assist in providing results of the health needs survey to the community; striving to create larger business presence on coalition.

Will actively report the analysis report of the 4 county Community Health Needs Assessment survey to the community and media.

Grants received:

None at this point.

Over 230 agencies, businesses, groups and individuals on the Coalition mailing list.
